how to decorate your Christmas tree with tag!
1. Choose a theme. This is the most important step, as your theme will determine all the other elements of your tree. Keep your intended audience in mind when selecting your Christmas tree theme.
Will your tree be part of a formal dining occasion? Consider choosing a theme that’s based on sophistication and elegance. Will your Christmas tree play host to the family present opening traditions on Christmas morning? Then consider going in a more light-hearted, fun direction that the kids will love.
For our tree, tag was inspired by the whimsy of the Deck Your Halls Collection.
2. Lights. The eternal Christmas tree debate is clear lights versus color. Sophisticated themes call for the cool elegance of white lights, while a Christmas tree with a whimsical theme can stand to have an infusion of color! If you’ll have many different colors on your tree, clear lights are good choice to tie them all together.
Or, you can think outside the debate and try paper string lights in seasonal shapes.
3. Ornaments. Ornaments are probably the most exciting part of decorating your tree. Kids love to hang them, and over the years, your ornaments will come to represent all of the wonderful Christmas memories you hold. Your Christmas ornaments are also great conversation starters, as each one tells a story.
Choose ornaments that go with your theme. For our tree, we chose fun felt and ceramic ornaments that keep with our whimsical theme. tag has ornaments that range from fun to sophisticated.
4. Garland. A garland adds visual interest to your tree, and can tie together the elements of your lights and your ornaments, for a wonderful finishing touch. Keep in mind that you may need several garlands, depending on the size of your Christmas tree.
For our tree, tag chose the Christmas Hope, Peace, and Joy Felt Garland.
5. Tree Skirt. A tree skirt serves many functions. Not only does it cover the stand of your Christmas tree, it also gathers needles and serves as a stylish canvas for your presents. A good tree skirt complements your tree theme, and is another chance to make a statement.
